I crouched down and handheld my camera just beneath an incoming wave to capture this dramatic wide-angle perspective at Horse Head Rock on the NSW Sapphire Coast. I was inspired by William Patino's style of shooting without a tripod to liberate oneself from the burden and to be more agile in positioning the camera in front of the action. I used a 1/8-second shutter speed, which shows movement in the water while keeping the static elements in the photo relatively sharp.
