Sunflower Fields

I drove five hours each way on a Thursday afternoon to visit the sunflower fields outside the town of Quirindi. A break in the clouds appeared just before sunset, and I captured this shot of the sunflowers swaying in the breeze, illuminated by the direct light of the sun. The flowers were facing east, so I had to shoot directly into the sun. I purposely overexposed the sky highlights to replicate the same glare I experienced with the naked eye. I learned that sunflowers generally face east due to heliotropism.
